Planet

We focus on efforts that have the biggest impact within different areas, such as production, transportation and garment care.

Our ambition is to track and reduce our total CO2 emission by 2030.

Environmental Impact

Our sustainability efforts aim towards reducing our carbon footprint by focusing on efforts that have the biggest impact on the environment. In making our business decisions, we have the real cost in mind – including environmental impact.

Garment longevity & care

Our sustainability process starts with the design. For over 75 years, we have perfected our production standards, choices of materials and trims to produce high quality garments that will last wash after wash. Our ambition is to make garments that lasts over time with the best quality and design, without ever compromising on function to ensure that we deliver the best product.

We prolong the life-span of our garments by offering our costumers a product Care Guide with information about how to make the garments last as long as possible. Followed by a responsible consumption, taking care of your garments and prolonging their lifetime is one of the most effective ways to contribute to a decreased carbon footprint.

Packaging

We aim towards minimizing plastics and non-recycled paper in our packaging. Our hangtags are made from recycled paper, printed with a soy-based color and our e-commerce shipping bags are made from recycled plastics.

Our Certificates

We want to make sure our products are made in a responsible way, from start to finish.
As a company, which is based and operating in Europe, our supply chain is regulated by, and aligned with the European REACH standards. REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) is a regulation of the European Union, intended to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals.

Our internal production team aim towards maintaining a strong relationship with our suppliers, and make sure our mutual agreement is complied with. Furthermore, we collaborate with external supply chain services for quality control and quality assurance. All of our biggest garment suppliers are also BSCI or Wrap certified, which regulates corporate and social responsibility, for example implementing international labor standards, such as the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).

Many of our fabric suppliers are nominated, which means they are chosen by us and not locally. The use of nominated fabrics allows greater transparency and control of production process, making sure that the suppliers comply with our Certificate of Compliance and important steps of the production process, such as the use of closed water systems at the dyehouses.
All our nominated fabric suppliers are either Blue sign or OEKO-TEX® certified.

BLUESIGN® system

With an A+ grade in textile dyeing, dyeing facilities certified with Bluesign, only use safe input chemicals, monitor their air and water emissions and ensure worker safety so that the dyed fabric is safe for the end user, workers and the environment.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

Similar to Bluesign, the Oekotex standard oversees the presence of hazardous chemicals in dyed fabric. It checks for carcinogens, azo dyes and other chemical limits in accordance to
the European REACH standards.

GRS and GOTS certified

All our recycled or organic materials are either GRS or GOTS certified. The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) was developed by leading standard setters to define world-wide recognized requirements for organic textiles. From the harvesting of the raw materials, environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing to labelling, textiles certified to GOTS provide a credible assurance to the consumer.

Transportation

Our ambition is to minimize our impact by choosing the best available options for transportation from our suppliers to our warehouse. Transportation by air emits 98% more CO2 than transportation by sea and 95% more than transportation by railway.* This is the main reason for our choice of transportation method, domestically as well as internationally.

During the past year, 88% of our total international transportation was made on sea or road, leaving 12% shipping by air during the same timeframe. For our domestic transportation 60% were transported by road and 40% by railway. The choice of transportation method varies from season to season depending on where our suppliers are located and external circumstances. We strive towards 0% shipping by air and choose air transportation only if no other option is possible.
